Today, we'll arrive in the stunning city of Porto. Upon landing, the levarTravel leader will warmly welcome you at the hotel. Once settled in, we'll take some time to get to know each other, review the trip itinerary, and address any questions you may have.

There are no activities scheduled for this day. However, the leader will be available to help and advise you on what you should do and visit on this day.

As the evening sets in, we'll all come together for our first taste of authentic Portuguese cuisine. Your leader will recommend the best local restaurants and signature dishes, ensuring a delicious start to our adventure.

The charming city of Porto is one of Portugal’s most romantic destinations, renowned for its medieval riverside district, where colourful houses line the banks of the Douro River. After breakfast, we’ll set off to explore the city’s rich culture and striking architecture on a walk that takes us past several iconic landmarks. Highlights include the exquisite São Bento Train Station, renowned for its hand-painted tile murals; the elegant Clérigos Tower, a symbol of the city’s skyline; and the enchanting Lello Bookstore, often hailed as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world.

We’ll head down Avenida dos Aliados, lined with elegant buildings, before turning to the historic Bolhão Market, a local favourite filled with fresh produce and regional delicacies. Then we’ll continue up to the Cathedral district, Porto’s oldest neighbourhood, where narrow streets and centuries-old houses reveal the true soul of the city.

In the afternoon, we'll wander through the charming Ribeira district, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and admire Palácio da Bolsa, once Porto’s stock exchange. Then, we’ll enjoy a scenic Douro River cruise, offering breathtaking views of the city's iconic six bridges.

We’ll cross the river to Vila Nova de Gaia for a visit to a historic Port wine cellar, where we’ll learn about the winemaking process and enjoy a tasting of this iconic drink. Let’s raise a glass to a day well spent. Saúde!

The evening is yours to explore Porto’s vibrant food scene. And don’t miss the chance to try the city’s legendary Francesinha sandwich!

Today we’ll leave Porto behind and take a scenic drive into the lush Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world.

Winding through terraced hillsides, we’ll arrive at a local estate for a Port and regional wine tasting paired with a lunch of local specialities: from olives and cheeses to cured meats, traditional salads, and sweet pastries.

After a gentle boat ride on the Douro River with a stop at the charming riverside village of Pinhão, there’s time to relax or wander the vineyards before checking into our countryside accommodation, a tranquil retreat between hills and terraced vineyards, with sweeping river views.

We’ll end the day with a peaceful dinner in the heart of wine country.

Today we head south by private vehicle to the historic city of Coimbra, beautifully set along the banks of the Mondego River. Once the medieval capital of Portugal, Coimbra’s royal heritage still echoes through its ancient streets. The city is also home to Portugal’s oldest university, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and a rich cultural life shaped by centuries of academic tradition.

Upon arrival, we’ll go through the winding alleys and sun-drenched squares of the Old Quarter, where white-stone facades and vibrant tiles adorn some of the buildings. You'll discover a mix of Roman ruins, Moorish influences, and lively student life. Highlights include the Sé Velha (Old Cathedral), one of Portugal’s finest Romanesque churches, and a visit to the University of Coimbra, including a tour of the Joanine Library, a breathtaking Baroque masterpiece.

In the evening, experience the soul of Coimbra through its distinctive form of Fado, performed by musicians in traditional academic robes. Deeply tied to the university and marked by melancholic melodies and poetic lyrics, Fado de Coimbra offers a moving glimpse into Portuguese culture and history.

After breakfast, we travel to Portugal’s capital, Lisbon, a city of golden light, tiled facades, and sweeping viewpoints. Once checked into our hotel, we’ll embark on a stroll through the historic neighbourhoods of Baixa, Chiado, and Alfama, where narrow alleys wind between whitewashed homes and hidden courtyards.

Baixa is Lisbon’s downtown heart: a grand, elegant district rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake with wide, grid-like streets lined by neoclassical buildings, bustling plazas, and traditional cafés. Here, you can admire the impressive Rua Augusta Arch, which opens onto Praça do Comércio, the majestic riverside square once the site of the royal palace.

Just uphill lies Chiado, the city’s cultural and literary hub. This charming neighbourhood blends old-world charm with contemporary flair, featuring elegant boutiques, art galleries, and historic cafés that were once frequented by famed Portuguese writers and poets. 

We’ll then go to another hill, exploring the Citadel of São Jorge Castle, a Moorish-era fortress perched atop the highest hill in the Old Town, offering panoramic views over the sea of white houses and iconic red terracotta rooftops. On the way down, we’ll see Lisbon Cathedral, built in 1150.

Your evening is free to savour Lisbon’s lively culinary scene or immerse yourself in the city’s renowned nightlife. Consider heading to Bairro Alto, where traditional bars and live music bring the streets to life as night falls.

A full day of discovery awaits in the historic Belém district, the cradle of Portugal’s maritime past. We begin with a view of the magnificent Jerónimos Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a masterpiece of Manueline architecture. Marvel at its intricate stone carvings, grand cloisters, and the tombs of famous explorers like Vasco da Gama, whose voyages helped shape the Age of Discovery.

Next, we’ll see the iconic Belém Tower, a striking fortress that once guarded the entrance to the Tagus (Tejo) River and stands as a symbol of Portugal’s seafaring legacy. From here, indulge your taste buds at the legendary Pastéis de Belém bakery, where you can sample the original pastéis de nata: custard tarts with perfectly flaky crusts and creamy centres, a true Lisbon institution since the early 19th century.

In the afternoon, the day is yours to explore Lisbon at your own pace. Perhaps hop on the famous tram 28, a charming vintage streetcar that winds through the city’s most picturesque neighbourhoods. Or simply unwind by the tranquil banks of the Tagus River, soaking in the sun and the beautiful views of the city’s waterfront.

Leaving the coast behind, our private vehicle will take us inland to the tranquil beauty of Évora, the capital of Portugal’s Alentejo region. Surrounded by rolling plains, olive groves, and cork forests, this UNESCO World Heritage-listed city is a treasure trove of history and tradition. Its whitewashed streets, peaceful squares, and ancient city walls tell stories of Roman legions, medieval kings, and quiet monastic life.

We’ll explore Évora’s most iconic sites, including the Chapel of Bones (Capela dos Ossos), a haunting yet compelling 16th-century monument built by Franciscan monks, intended as a powerful reminder of life’s transience. Just steps away stands the Roman Temple. Dating back to the 1st century AD, it is one of the best-preserved Roman structures on the Iberian Peninsula, offering a glimpse into the city's ancient past.

In the afternoon, we’ll head into the Alentejo countryside, home to Portugal’s renowned cork oak forests. At a traditional cork farm, a local expert will guide us through the fascinating process of cork harvesting and production, a sustainable practice rooted in generations of knowledge.

After breakfast, we’ll travel south by private vehicle to the Algarve coast, stopping in the charming fishing town of Olhão. Known for its whitewashed alleyways and Moorish-style architecture, Olhão is the Algarve’s busiest fishing port, and its lively waterfront and bustling fish market reflect that status. Take time to wander through the colourful stalls, where the day’s catch is proudly displayed and locals haggle over the freshest seafood.

After lunch, we’ll cross the border into Spain, making our way to the vibrant city of Seville. According to legend, the city was founded by Hercules and has roots tracing back to the ancient Tartessian civilisation. After the Christian reconquest, Seville rose to prominence as a gateway to the New World. Nowadays, it’s the cultural heart of southern Spain, celebrated for its oranges, tapas, and flamenco, all deeply woven into its local identity.

Upon arrival, we’ll take a short walk to get acquainted with the city’s main sights. The rest of the afternoon and evening are yours to explore at your own pace. You might stroll the historic Barrio Santa Cruz, once a Jewish quarter and now a maze of narrow lanes and hidden courtyards. Or cross the river to Triana, a lively neighbourhood known for its ceramic traditions and flamenco roots. San Jacinto Street, in particular, is packed with bold, inventive cuisine waiting to be discovered.

Today, we’ll dive into the artistic and historic heart of Seville. Our day will begin with a visit to the magnificent Real Alcázar, a masterpiece of Mudéjar architecture, with intricate tilework, lush courtyards, and ornate halls that reflect centuries of cultural fusion. Still used by the Spanish royal family today, it’s one of the oldest palaces in Europe still in use.

Next, we’ll head to the towering Seville Cathedral, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and a true symbol of the city’s grandeur. Inside, you’ll find awe-inspiring altarpieces and the tomb of Christopher Columbus. We’ll have the chance to climb the Giralda Tower, a former minaret offering panoramic views of the city's rooftops.

After some free time for lunch, and maybe a visit to the Plaza España and Parque María Luísa, we’ll regroup in the evening for a flamenco show, an unforgettable experience where soul-stirring songs, passionate dance, and rhythmic guitar bring this UNESCO-recognised art form to life. The emotion and energy of flamenco are powerful and raw, leaving a lasting impression long after the final beat is struck.

We’ll rise early today, as our long journey will take us from southern Spain to northern Morocco, beginning with a scenic drive to Tarifa by private vehicle. Here, we'll board a ferry across the legendary Strait of Gibraltar. As we cross from Europe to Africa, we’re welcomed by a dramatic shift in atmosphere: a new continent, a new culture, and a vibrant new rhythm.

After arriving in Tangier, we’ll pause for a walk through the medina, getting a first glimpse of Morocco’s dynamic street life and architectural charm. From there, we’ll travel inland by private vehicle through the dramatic Rif Mountains to reach one of the country’s most picturesque towns: Chefchaouen. Nestled in the hills, this dreamy blue-washed village is a photographer’s paradise. 

Upon arrival, we’ll settle into a traditional riad, a beautiful guesthouse showcasing Moroccan design and hospitality. While time may be short this evening, there may still be a chance to stroll through the 15th-century medina, glimpse the Grand Mosque, or simply take in the unique atmosphere at your own pace.

Today is dedicated to uncovering the charm of Chefchaouen, one of Morocco’s most picturesque and beloved towns.

We’ll explore the beautifully preserved medina, where blue-and-whitewashed homes, red-tiled roofs, and ornately carved doorways create a dreamlike atmosphere. Along the way, we’ll learn about the town’s Andalusian and Berber heritage, visit a communal bakery, and meet local artisans at work.

In the afternoon, you’ll have free time to relax with a glass of mint tea, or maybe visit a traditional Moroccan hammam, offering the perfect reset. Also consider walking up to the Spanish Mosque, perched on a hill just outside town, where you can enjoy a breathtaking sunset view over the sea of blue buildings.

After breakfast, we’ll bid farewell to Chefchaouen and begin our journey toward Fes, the cultural and spiritual heart of Morocco. Along the way, we’ll stop at the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, a local guide will bring history to life as we explore remarkably well-preserved ruins: mosaic-covered floors, ancient bathhouses, and towering marble columns. These remnants offer a vivid glimpse into daily life during the Roman Empire and the astonishing reach of its influence.

Continuing southeast through beautiful rural landscapes, we eventually arrive at the gates of Fes. After settling into our traditional riad within the medieval medina, we set out on a brief walk to get our bearings in this labyrinthine city. The medina is a sensory tapestry of sights, sounds, and smells.

The evening is yours to unwind, and maybe have dinner at one of Fes’s hidden rooftop restaurants, where you can savour local specialities like harira (chickpea soup) or chicken-stuffed pastilla, while enjoying panoramic views of the city at dusk.

Our full day in Fes will be an immersive journey into Morocco’s cultural heart. Led by a local guide, we’ll explore the UNESCO-listed Fes el-Bali medina, the world’s largest living medieval medina, with over 9,000 narrow streets packed into 365 hectares. Step through one of its grand gates and into a maze alive with history.

We’ll explore the artisan quarters where age-old traditions like ceramics, copperwork, and woodworking are still practised by hand. After that, we’ll visit iconic landmarks including the 9th-century Al-Qarawiyyin University, considered by many to be the oldest existing university in the world, and the Medersa Bou Inania, known for its intricate tilework and elegant courtyards.

A highlight of the day is the visit to one of Fes’s famous tanneries. From the balcony of a leather shop, witness the age-old process of treating and dyeing hides in vivid, sunlit vats; a scene both mesmerising and steeped in tradition. We’ll have time to shop for handmade leather goods and ceramics, or simply soak in the atmosphere.

After the tour, the rest of the afternoon is yours to continue exploring at your own pace, relax at our riad, or sip mint tea as the medina buzzes around you.

Today is a long but rewarding journey connecting three of Morocco’s most iconic cities. Departing early, we’ll travel south by private vehicle, with our first stop in Casablanca, the country’s largest city and a striking blend of modernity and tradition. Here, we’ll see the majestic Hassan II Mosque, an architectural marvel perched dramatically over the Atlantic Ocean.

After lunch, we’ll continue on to Marrakech, arriving in time for golden hour as the city begins to pulse with evening energy. As we approach the legendary Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the atmosphere comes alive: snake charmers, henna artists, and storytellers gather alongside sizzling food stalls and street performers. The distant silhouette of the Koutoubia Mosque and its iconic minaret (the architectural twin of Seville’s Giralda) adds a spectacular backdrop to the vibrant chaos.

Tonight, you’re free to dive into the square’s sensory feast. Your first taste of Marrakech will be unforgettable.

Our final full day in Morocco is a vibrant celebration of colour, history, and cultural richness. We dive into the heart of Marrakech, weaving through the maze of narrow streets and alleyways in the ancient medina to experience the rhythm of everyday life. The souks are alive with energy, each turn offering something new: fragrant spices, traditional jalabas and slippers, hand-crafted lanterns, and countless treasures waiting to be discovered.

We’ll explore the exquisite Bahia Palace, where amazing tilework and tranquil courtyards reflect the artistry of Moroccan design. Nearby, the Saadian Tombs will reveal to us the once-hidden resting place of Sultan Ahmed Al Mansour, rediscovered in 1917 after centuries of obscurity. We’ll also pass by the atmospheric ruins of Palais El Badi, once a magnificent palace that now stands as a silent witness to the city’s regal past.

In the afternoon, you’ll have some time to relax or maybe continue shopping in the bustling medina. In the evening, we’ll get together for a joyful dinner featuring traditional Moroccan cuisine.
